Program SEARCH is an internationally recognized school-to-work transition program where young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities are given real work experience and training for future employment. Students receive support from department mentors, job coaches and skills trainers through strategically designed internships.

Students who are mentored through Project SEARCH benefit by gaining valuable and marketable job skills that assist in their education and employment. Candidates come away with an overall improved sense of confidence, independence and responsibility.

Our primary goal is to secure competitive employment for people with disabilities. Community partnerships between employers, school boards and employment service providers are paramount to the program’s success.

Since Project SEARCH Halton launched at Halton Healthcare’s Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in 2019, the successful program has expanded to Milton District Hospital, where Project SEARCH North Halton has entered its second year.
