Job Title: Membership Engagement Assistant

Location: Remote (Halton residents encouraged to apply)

Role: Independent Contractor

Annual Contract: $15,000 (includes HST)

Estimated per Hours: 12 hours/week.  Some evenings and weekends to accommodate events.

Duration: June 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025, possibility of renewal.

The Halton Equity Diversity Roundtable (HEDR) is a dynamic and forward-thinking membership association dedicated to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within the Halton region. HEDR's mission revolves around strengthening the ability of community members and organizations to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in Halton through skills, knowledge, and relationship building. HEDR does this to fostering an environment where individuals from all walks of life, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, or socioeconomic status, feel empowered and valued. By promoting understanding, respect, and inclusivity, HEDR aims to eliminate barriers, prejudices, and systemic inequalities that hinder social progress and hinder the growth of a cohesive society.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Membership Program Administration: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the membership program, including processing new memberships, renewals, and inquiries. Maintain accurate membership records and databases.

  • Marketing and Communications: Collaborate with the communications team to develop and implement strategies to promote the membership program. Create engaging content for social media, newsletters, and website to attract new members and engage existing ones.

  • Basic Accounting: Support the finance team in basic accounting tasks related to the membership program, such as processing payments, preparing invoices, and reconciling accounts.

  • Special Events Management: Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of special events and initiatives aimed at educating, engaging, and retaining members. This may include virtual or in-person events, workshops, and member appreciation activities.
     

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, Canva, Wix, and familiarity with database management.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.

  • Knowledge of communities in Halton is an asset.

  • Passion for community engagement and equity-seeking groups.
