About HEDR:
The Halton Equity and Diversity Roundtable (HEDR) is a collaborative of individuals and organizations working to build systemic equity, inclusion, and belonging in Halton Region. We support our members in advancing their DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) efforts through education, dialogue, and capacity-building.
Position Overview:
HEDR is seeking a highly motivated and organized Administrative Assistant to join our team on a casual, temporary basis. This is an 8-hour-per-week contract role for 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting our membership program, event coordination, and basic bookkeeping tasks.
This is a remote position ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a flexible, virtual work environment and is passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide administrative support for HEDR’s membership program, including maintaining contact lists, tracking member engagement, and responding to member inquiries

Assist with logistics and coordination of virtual and in-person events (e.g., scheduling, registration, communications)

Support basic bookkeeping duties, such as tracking expenses, preparing invoices, and maintaining financial records

Draft and format emails, reports, and other communications

Organize and maintain digital files and documents

Attend and take minutes at relevant virtual meetings

Other administrative tasks as needed
Required Qualifications:

Strong organizational and time management skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Comfortable using digital tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Zoom, spreadsheets)

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Attention to detail and accuracy

Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Experience with bookkeeping or financial tracking is an asset

Prior experience in an administrative or event coordination role is an asset
Working Environment:
This is a fully remote role. Candidates must have access to a reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace. Flexibility in scheduling is offered, but the ability to attend occasional virtual meetings during business hours is required.
