The Halton Equity Diversity Roundtable is a collaborative network dedicated to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion across the Halton region. We bring together individuals, organizations, and businesses who share a common vision: building a community where everyone feels they belong.
Our mission is to strengthen the capacity of people and organizations to create equitable and inclusive spaces through learning, connection, and shared action. Together, we work to foster a community where individuals of all identities—across race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, and socioeconomic background—are valued and empowered.
Through collaboration and collective impact, HEDR strives to break down barriers, challenge systemic inequities, and nurture a culture of respect, understanding, and belonging throughout Halton.
Before I ever walked through the doors (or logged into an online forum) I wasn’t sure who would truly understand what it meant to carry the invisible weight of being “the only one” in a room: the only Black woman, the only voice speaking up about race, the only person reminding others that equity isn’t just a checkbox.
Then I found HEDR. At HEDR, I didn’t have to explain myself; that alone was powerful.
It wasn’t just the workshops, or the shared language around anti-oppression, it was the energy. Intentionality. The way members leaned into discomfort and showed up to practice accountability. My experience here reminded me that change isn’t always loud, or fast. Sometimes, it’s in the questions we’re brave enough to ask each other.
This community helped me root myself more deeply in my own work, whether I’m advocating in a boardroom, facilitating in a classroom, or holding space in community. Because of HEDR, I don’t feel alone in the push for systems that actually honour all of us.
