This interactive workshop explores how trauma-responsive care can be leveraged as a powerful, interconnected framework for advancing equity and transforming systems. Grounded in the TEAO model—Trauma Awareness, Embedded Support, Accountability, and Organizational Integration—participants will deepen their understanding of how trauma and systemic harm show up across communities and institutions.
The session opens with a dynamic grounding activity that invites participants to reflect on their own perspectives of trauma and its broader impacts. A focused presentation will then unpack the TEAO model, illustrating how each of its pillars works together to strengthen community, disrupt inequities, and foster inclusive environments. Drawing on real-world examples from both urban and rural contexts, participants will see how trauma-responsive approaches can be applied in diverse settings.
The workshop concludes with a collaborative action-mapping exercise, where participants will identify practical strategies to embed trauma-responsive practices into their daily work—supporting more compassionate, accountable, and equitable systems.
