About the event
In this foundational session, participants will explore the concept of intersectionality, a term coined by legal scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw to describe how multiple, overlapping identities—such as race, gender, sexuality, class, and ability—interact to shape lived experiences.
Through interactive activities and real-life case studies, we will examine how systems of power, privilege, and oppression are experienced differently based on the intersections of identity. Participants will engage in an identity wheel exercise to reflect on their own positionality and explore how often systems and structures fail to recognize the full complexity of the individuals they serve.
